Talk therapy for individuals, couples, and families

Whether you’re in the midst of a life transition, healing from trauma, or seeking to improve the quality of your relationship, therapy can be a space for you to explore your past, present, and future.

  • Individual therapy

I work with adults of all ages experiencing anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, body image/low self-esteem, attachment issues, life transitions, grief & loss. As a systemic therapist, I walk alongside my individual clients as they gain insights about their family of origin and their relationships. My goal is to help you to better understand the challenges you’re facing, and work together to identify new solutions.

  • Couples therapy

Whether you’ve been together for decades or are embarking on a new relationship, couples therapy can be a space for partners to engage in meaningful conversations and improve their connection. I work with couples to explore commitment, heal from conflict, deepen intimacy, and improve relational skills. Together we will identify patterns that perpetuate conflict and isolation in order to strengthen your relationship.

  • Family therapy

Every family is unique, but we all face challenges from time to time. I specialize in working with blended families, families struggling with grief and loss, and those wishing to improve communication and closeness during life cycle transitions. Family therapy is about identifying cycles of interaction that make us feel stuck. I challenge each family member to examine their role in the cycle and support you as you try a new approach.

Specialties

  • Depression

Living with depression can be, well, depressing. Signs of depression include lack of energy, difficulty concentrating, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, low self-esteem, and feelings of hopelessness. These symptoms can create a cycle of negativity, making it difficult for individuals to seek help or engage in activities that might alleviate their distress.

I work with clients to “name and tame” their depression symptoms to help regain a sense of control and hope for the future.

  • Grief and loss

“You don’t get over grief, you just learn how to walk alongside it.”

Whether you’ve lost someone close to you or you’re experiencing ambiguous grief (a loss that doesn't have a clear end or resolution), grief sucks. Maybe it’s overwhelming, maybe you feel numb and disconnected, or maybe it’s a whole mess of feelings tangled up around you. However it shows up, healing doesn’t happen in isolation.

  • Chronic illness

The shift from acute illness to chronic illness is rarely easy. Maybe you’ve just gotten a diagnosis or maybe you’ve been living with a chronic illness or disability for years. It can be really f*cking lonely, even when family and friends try to understand.

I focus on body neutrality and radical acceptance to help clients process grief, commit to a new future, and address ableism, ageism & other forms of systemic oppression.

  • Premarital counseling

You don’t have to be married to go to couples therapy. In fact, addressing sore spots early on in a relationship could save you a lot of emotional turmoil down the road.

Every couple deserves a chance to discuss values, goals, and relational needs up front, out in the open. I help couples get better at having difficult conversations by addressing conflict head-on with “fierce intimacy”, to borrow Terry Real’s famous phrase.

“You are not your thoughts! That said, avoiding your thoughts will not help you train your brain to think new ones. You must look at them with gentle kindness and say, ‘thank you for sharing.’ And with love, release them.”
